45015/D14

As the website has not been updated since Jan 08, I am curious as to the future of D14/45015. Does it have a new home & where will that be?

Wherever this Peak's new home will be, I hope that at long last, some proper restoration work will begin on the loco with a view to returning it to traffic as it has been in store for years. From the outside, it looks as if little work has been (I may be mistaken but to the usually observant me there are few signs of major work having been done) apart from painting the loco orange on one side- what on earth was that for? That's no way to treat a rateable heritage diesel loco such as a Peak! I think I'd prefer the battered blue! Still, it was probably painted orange a good few years ago now so even the lurid orange may be starting to get a bit rusty- oh dear! Who exactly owns the loco at present? I haven't heard anything about this Peak for years and had begun to forget all about her!

It was painted orange by disgruntled volunteers.

Last I heard from the owner, the locos future was subject to some kind of legal arbitration which was due to reach a conclusion in May or June. I've not heard from him since. He did seem reluctant to let this loco die a death. Believe it or not there is a home waiting for the loco and its not a scrapyard!

Rugs, and everyone else for that matter, no news as yet but as soon as there is some I will ask Andy if it's okay to go public with it.

Edward, the loco has not been forgotten, not by any means. When you're stuck, you're stuck. Right now, we're stuck.

Oh no it wasn't, it was one of the then owning group. In an attempt to give if some sort of use before restoration, it was painted to resemble a Thomas charactor.

I must have missed the orange and pink Peak in the books written by the author Rev W Awdry.

In all honesty, the Loadhaul livery does not suit "Ark Royal". It definately would not suit a peak!
BR blue with the white stripe down the side would suit it, maybe even with an unofficial name painted on!!

Andrew,

Once everything is settled and we are able to make progress, Andy's intention has always been to get D14 in 'as built' condition. Before the sniping starts I realise that's an absolutely mammoth task, as does Andy. Hey ho.

Hopefully some-one can save the steam heat boiler (if its got one) along with other spares.

A pity that we have so few 45/0s preserved compared to 45/1s.

Hi all. I've been away from the site for a while, so can anyone update me on the latest with this loco?

Thanks in advance.

Hi Dave,

Haven't spoken to Andy in a while, lots going on in both our lives, but last I knew (about 8 months ago) the loco is still at the centre of legal discussions and there have been abortive attempts to purchase it for cannabilising for other projects (not Peak based). Both Andy and the railway are remaining tight-lipped as far as I know.

The loco has had no work done at all, obviously, and is now probably so far beyond economic repair to be only useful as spares, what little it has left that's viable.

Desperately sad.

Please let me know any outcomes for this peak.

As i am looking for a good project, and will happily get this peak back to running order.

So if any one has information of the owners, as been hearing rumours that the line now owns her, is this true.

Im in Leicester so pretty near by.

My ultimate goal would be to get her back to mainline passed and with original split boxes.
This will most probably mean building parts from scratch.

Obviously a long term project, but willing to fund it, as business is making enough money, and with a bit of trickery it can be a tax relief lol.

any info then please email me on andy@enhanceyourliving.co.uk
