Postby typetwos » 05 May 2010 12:03

Just been on Shackerstone Diesels website & seen that there are diesels running this weekend but does anyone know which loco please for Sat 8th & Sun 9th May 2010.
Wlll the website be updated this year as there are quite a few people who would like to visit the railway & travel behind the various loco's based there..

We're having some serious welding work done around the number 1 end cab at present, which is nearing completion then will need the cab put back together and at present all 12 fuel pumps have been removed to be replaced with a set of overhauled ones, at present we are aiming to have her back in traffic for the end of the season, and the september gala, but all dependant on usual disclaimers of time etc. If you're around on the weekend then come down and i'll show you what we've had done!!

Cheers

Blimey that is a lot of work being done on 101, but will be worth it keeping her going, Thanks for the offer Martyn but am working on the saturday & away on Sunday at Chinnor for a rare working on 31163. Thats where most of the 31 cranks will be am afraid..Hopefully if 130's out around the 19th july weekend i will be there.

Big fan of 31s and the Battlefield Martyn.

I hope 101 is fit for the September gala.

The big question is, will it return with its red stripe around the cab? I really dislike that.

Anyway, thanks for everything that you do on the Battlefield. It is much appreciated.

And this coming weekend (26th 27th), we'll be all Sulzered out. 25 all day Saturday. Then Sunday, 25 for the 1130 and 1300 off of Shack, and 47640 for the 1430 and 1600.

Don't forget, we also have a visiting Beavertail in service this season (Cream tea's will be available in the Beavertail, always an added incentive to get the domestic authorities to come along for a ride...). Nothing like a grandstand view while you enjoy the thrash. All for a small supplemental fee.

Time tables, and other details available on the railway's website.

Just a word of thanks, there is obviously a more concerted effort to get gen out from Shackerstone a few days in advance, it is appreciated. I also an independant text about this last night.

Keep it up boys...

Sadly I will on the Large Blue object heading for Swanage over the weekend, so wont be able to attend, but two Sundays ago was a very good day out.

019 retired after the first trip this morning due to low oil pressure. It was replaced by the rat. I didn't ask if anyone was coming along with some more oil for Sunday.

Well, the usual secrecy regarding the diesels at Shackerstone is on again this year, i found out from the railway press that 31130 had worked recently, if i had known i would have been there but i was at home instead of spending money at the railway, do you not want diesel loco followers there? The Shackerstone diesel website is still in 2010, is there anynews on dates for what loco etc please,as i think there would be a lot of grateful people on here who would like to know..Thanks

I've just seen in another forum that there's no Battlefield diesel gala this year.

I like the Battlefield line. I'd really like to give you some of my money this year.

But it's 2 1/2 hours drive each way which is not something I can do without knowing what's running.
Specifically, when 33019 is expected to be running. Some of your other locos are interesting but not
interesting enough to be worth spending 5 hours of a Saturday on the motorway.

Last year there was some information available about which diesels were expected to be running. This year there's nothing.

I'd really like to give you some of my money this year but you have to provide information about which diesels are expected to be running.

Please .....

one of the reason we have decided not to run the gala is that a lot of home fleet is in bits.33019 has been out out of trafic for a while and has had the heat exchanger overhauled, powerunit repairs and is also having major body surgery on one side and needs repainting.31101 has had major surgery on one cab, boiler room repairs and is also reciving power unit repairs, both 47s are currently out of traffic due to various problems.56 086 has been suffering with a power fault which we have not had the time to look at.
