The
class 45's were the production line version of the class 44's with a
higher rated Sulzer engine and were introduced between 1960 & 1962.
The majority of the class were based on the midland and eastern regions
working all types of train. In the early 1970's 50 were fitted with ETH
and worked the midland main line out of St Pancras before being
transferred to the Trans-Pennine route upon the introduction of the HST's. The last members of the class were withdrawn from Tinsley by
1989. |
